3 timeless principles I live my life by.

I was jogging on a beautiful Sunday morning in a park and I was looking at the fitness freak people. Along the way, I was looking at few hawkers who were selling fruit juices and happily serving it to people. And along the way, I overheard two ladies in the fifties, talking about the problems in their life. They later moved into their car.
It made me wondering who was more successful in their life – the hawker who was happy serving few people every day or those ladies who had lots of money but were too busy complaining. I leave the answer up to you but the reason I am telling you this story is because a lot of people have confused success with money. When they don’t have enough money, they think they are not successful. That’s fine f money is their passion. But the problem begins when they want instant money. They are not ready to invest time into their success. And true success, takes time. Period.
And it’s the same philosophy that motivates me to work hard daily even though I see no results. With that, I share with you three timeless principles which have helped me at every stage in life when I was stuck, confused and I had no clue what I want to do with my life.

1. You always have time.

This is the most common excuse people give when they are not able to do anything they want to do. But the real reason why they are not doing something they truly want to do is because they have become the servants of their circumstances. Instead of ruling their day, their day rules them. Right from the moment they wake up till they sleep, there’s not even a single thing they do which they truly desire. They do all the things which either others have told them to do or because of the circumstances. Everyone has the same 24 hours in the day and whatever you do in those hours determines the rest of your life. And if you have a job you don’t like working, then you have those remaining 2-4 hours where you have to work hard. And if you can’t find time to do something in those hours, do you think you’ll be able to change your life? Do I need to say anything more?

2. Go out and get busy.

You won’t get a breakthrough by just day dreaming and visualizing. You have to go out and meet new people, talk to them, learn from them and then present your ideas. And we have a limited attention span these days because of lots of information out there. So you have to continuously go out and show up if you want to get notices. Here’s a quick tip. Instead of watching an hour of TV today, go out and attend a social event of your interest, call a friend, post your story online via blog, read a book, meet new people and ask them what’s going on in their lives and how can you help. You’ll be amazed at the opportunities showing up your way.

3. Don’t give up.

Have you ever heard of a person who has become an overnight success? I bet you have for sure. But what you have missed to notice is the years of silent hard work and training that person has put into his work to become an overnight success. When you find time daily to do something you love and meet likeminded people, it won’t give powerful result immediately. Rather, it’s like a compounded interest. Whatever you do daily, the small steps add up to become an incremental success even before you know it.

That’s the three lessons I live by. What your three lessons to live by?

3 big life lessons 2015 taught me.

new-years-eve-2015-583221_960_720As we welcomed 2016 with open heart, I reflected on what happened in 2015. How the year did go? Was it full of memories? Was it a dull one? Was it adventurous? Was it as I planned? And when I looked back, I was proud of the accomplishments I made, the risk I took and the people I met. And when I thought deep about what I learned from those moments, I came across three most important things I learned in 2015.
1. You always have time: The most frequent thing people complain about is that they don’t have enough time. From their full time job and family, they don’t have time to do what they want. I have a question for those people. Then what do have time for? To do the things you don’t like? Life is too short and you don’t know when you might end up in regret. I spend daily 10.5 hours in my job including conveyance but I use the remaining time smartly. I listen to inspiring podcast while in bus and read books when in line for shopping or ATM. If you have WILL to do something, you always have TIME.

2. Don’t give up: It’s my fourth year in blogging and don’t have a very large group of readers but I kept going for my passion and this is what I received in my twitter account one day.

You have to persist when others give up. Remember this.

3. Go out and get busy: I was tired every time I come from office to meet new people; I was tired early morning to get up early to meet new people but guess what? After I took the first step, I met interesting people who opened up the door of opportunity for me and I landed few speaking gigs and media coverage.
If you just remember these 3 lessons, I bet you are going to rock your 2016. Guys, remember that before you know, the opportunity will pass by. And it’ll go to the person who is willing to do the above three things to do something that matters.
What are you willing to do to make 2016 your best year ever?

One word that is killing your DREAMS

Friends, do you know a word which is killing your dreams alive?
A word which we use daily and that too number of times!
A word which is our favourite!
A word which is difficult to ignore?
YES! This small tiny word is dangerously affecting our life in number of ways we can’t even imagine.
Think of how many times have you postponed something just because you thought you would do it tomorrow?
We always keep it for tomorrow because we believe that there’s enough time tomorrow.
But friends! How do you know if you will be alive tomorrow?
Time waits for no one and your completion won’t. Neither will your life. So what are you waiting for?
So many people are breathing till 75 but are dead at 25. Why?
Because they always thought “TOMORROW” will come. And guess what, TOMORROW came but they always waited for another TOMORROW, then another, then another. And they spent their entire life waiting.
Do you want to spend your entire life waiting for TOMORROW and regret at the end?
Just remember the NIKE slogan, “Just Do It”.
Because TODAY is all we have.

5 sure fire ways to become an expert at anything for free

Who is an expert? An expert is a person who is a master in a particular field. He/she has a specific knowledge which can be helpful to others in a particular way. We all turn to experts for our everyday work. We go to expert if our car is not working, we go to export if we want to buy insurance; we go to expert if we want relationship advice. Yes, these are all people who have spent countless hours into their skills and followed their interests which have made them the expert. Unfortunately in today’s world, though number of experts is increasing, it’s very low as compared to other group of people. The rest of people depend on the experts to get things done and the main reason why many of us are not experts is because most of us have a notion that becoming an expert requires investment. No, they are not worried about investment in time; they are worried about money as an investment. And when they don’t have money to join a school or classes where they can learn their subject, they stop. And they give up.

But there’s a good news for people trying to build their expertise for time has changes and these days, you don’t require thousands of dollars to become an expertise. With minimal investment and five ways shown here, you are sure to become an expert. Ready to start your journey? Here it goes.

  1. Read: All great leaders are great readers. There are tons of business and self help books available that if you search the five top books from your area of interest and apply those lessons, you’ll be far more ahead than others who have spent thousands of dollars but don’t apply those lessons. With books, you can gain the distilled knowledge of an expert in a very short time. Moreover technical knowledge isn’t the problem, what we need is more courage and boldness to become an expert and books can easily teach you that. What can be best way to learn than this?
  1. Listen: All the experts use their time well. They don’t waste their precious time gossiping or sleeping more than required. When commuting, try listening to various entrepreneurial podcasts. This will turn your journey into an automobile university and you’ll be able to learn a lot more while you travel than you can learn from sitting at one place.
  1. Watch: TED is a great resource to learn where the world is going. If you want to be an expert, you need to learn how to present your idea in a short, effective way. Watch one TED talk everyday to get a glimpse of public speaking. Attend seminars or join a local speaking class to be an effective speaker. This will take your expertise to a whole new level.
  1. Practice: Enough of learning. Now it’s time to apply all that you’ve learned into small actionable steps. I suggest applying 80-20 rule to this. For every 20% knowledge you gain, take 80% action. You’ll learn more than taking imperfect action than learning all day long and taking very few actions.
  1. Ask: When you learn and take action, you’ll make mistakes and gain confidence by learning from it. You’ll have doubt too. At this point. You should not be afraid to ask people. Asking for help to others who have been there done that will add to your knowledge and regularly taking these five steps will slowly add incremental success to your expertise.

Are you ready to become an expert now? Don’t wait till tomorrow to start your journey. Take action TODAY.

You only need 1 good reason.

17241030105_8a2cf9cc45_oDid you ever made a good enough excuse why you can’t do something? Think hard. We all have. If we don’t want to do something or are afraid of doing it, we find ways to avoid it. We find 1000 reasons why we are not capable of doing it. But we forget to see the positive side. Of course it’s hard to focus on bright side when all focus you have is on dark side. But we also need to remember that it just takes one stick of matchbox to remove the darkness. Same way, there might be 1000 reasons why you can’t do something but what you need is one good reason why you want to do it. And that is all it takes. Just one good reason.

There was a young boy named Kamlesh. Kamlesh was an ambitious boy who was working for a top management firm. He enjoyed his first 2 years of job but slowly, he got bored of his job. There was no sense of passion in his job. He didn’t love his work. His work didn’t excite him. After his marriage, things got worse. Traveling was consuming his most of time and he got less time to spend with his wife. Finally he decided to take control of his life. He loved banking sector and working in bank means very less travel as compared to his current job. So he decided to prepare for a banking exam.

Like every one of us, there were 1000 reasons why he couldn’t pursue his dream. He didn’t have a degree in banking, he had very less financial knowledge, and he didn’t have time to prepare and many more. But he had 1 strong reason why he wanted to do it. He wanted to do what he loved and more time for his family. So he slowly started preparing for the exam. Then he quit his job and prepared for three months for his exam. Finally the results came after two months and he joined the bank one month later.

Now he has started his job at a bank and loves his job. While most of his friends were happy blaming the circumstances, their family and their salary, Kamlesh took control of his life and took six months break before he got his next salary. But those six months of belief and hard work will pay him for the rest of his life.

Think hard friends. Do you want to avoid pain for few months or years and suffer rest of your life? Or do you want to act like Kamlesh and take pain for few months and enjoy rest of your life?

9 Things No One Told You About Difficult Times

3709115244_1b4db4d246_bWho likes difficult times? I know I don’t. I don’t think you do either. But guess what? I am in love with difficult times. Obviously when they happen, they make you feel totally alone, worthless and even stupid. But after they have gone, and I reflect on the things that I’ve learned rather than the bad times, I feel I have gained a gold mine because these times reveal who I am, and they teach me many important life lessons. It’s how you react to those situations that shows your true identity.

Here’s what happens when you go through difficult times.

1. You learn new things.

When you go through difficult times (those times that you hate), you are under pressure, worry, anxiety or all of the above. You learn how to manage them, you learn how to work under pressure, you learn how other people behave, you learn if you are the one who always gets help from people or the one from whom people run away, you learn to stretch your limits and know that you are capable of doing more than you think.

2. You learn to be proactive.

There comes a time when you have to take action even if you don’t want to. That’s why they’re called difficult times. And the more action you take, the more results you get. When you become proactive, you gain the advantage over others as 80% of people hate being proactive. It’s the remaining 20% — the proactive people — that bring the results.

3. You really learn what responsibility means.

Being personally responsible for everything we do is a trait very few people have and if you want to get an extra advantage, grab this opportunity. When you are going through difficult times, accept your responsibility and start doing work. Don’t grudge over past mistakes or waste time complaining. Responsibility is accepting the task you were supposed to do and doing it without any complaints. When you make it a habit, things will begin to change and you’ll begin to see results quickly.

4. You become master at difficult things.

The person who is proactive and is willing to accept responsibilities will not be afraid of doing difficult things. He knows he’s learning so much and the only way to be great at something is to do difficult things first.

5. You get support of other helpful people.

When people see you working hard, they genuinely want to help you as they know that you are a kind of person who will always help them. And also because they know that by helping you, they’ll be helping many people in the process through who you are connected.

People want to make some impact and when they see someone making it, they naturally feel inclined to help them.

6. You earn the trust of your subordinates.

People are tired of office politics and mean co-workers. When you stop complaining and take personal responsibility for your task, your behavior is rare and you gain the trust of your subordinates. Everyone wants to be around the person who is genuine and helpful.

7. Your self-confidence increases in an amazing way.

Slowly, as things begin to change around you as a result of your behavior and you begin to see positive results, you become confident in your work.

8. Things don’t seem hard to you now.

We don’t need more skills, we only need more confidence. When you have the confidence in you to do the difficult things with the required support, things that seem hard to others are part of the routine for you as all the hard work and efforts have finally paid off.

9. You become fearless.

The only way to overcome fear is to take action. And you are by now fearless because you took action, you took responsibility and when the right people supported you, your confidence grew.
